President Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed the law on changing the procedure for sending a resolution on administrative responsibility for traffic violations, which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on April 29. This is reported by the Office of the President.<\/p>\n
As noted, now most motorists pay fines for violations of traffic rules, recorded in photo and video recording mode, through the driver’s personal account in the first 10 days after the violation, as a 50 percent discount applies during this period.<\/p>\n
At the same time, the previous norms of the Code of Administrative Offenses obliged to send the original of the decision on bringing to administrative responsibility (so-called “letters of happiness”) to the mail of the violator, regardless of whether he has paid the fine. This led to confusion and in some cases to repeated payment of the fine.<\/p>\n
The law signed by the President abolishes the need to mail the violator a resolution on administrative responsibility, the fine for which has already been paid.<\/p>\n
Now, according to the law, the original of the resolution is sent by registered mail only if the fine has not been paid within 10 days after its issuance.<\/p>\n
The law enters into force on the day following its publication.<\/p>\n
On May 11, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Arsen Avakov, said that the police will not send fines, so-called “letters of happiness” to traffic violators, if the fine is paid on the spot.<\/p>\n
