The electronic queue for crossing the border for trucks is Queuing

December 12 2022

On December 12, the electronic border crossing queue for cargo vehicles – eCherga – began functioning at the Yagodyn-Dorogusk international road checkpoint on the border with Poland.

This is a free service, specially developed for the Ukrainian checkpoint, in which carriers can queue up and monitor how it moves online. The system will automatically send a notification to the driver indicating the approximate time of crossing the border.

After the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine and the blocking of sea and air routes, there has been a significant increase in the number of vehicles at checkpoints, as the number of goods transported by trucks across the border has increased.

Ukraine is one of the first countries in the world to introduce such a system. eCherga will help organize and increase the flow of trucks. In addition, the possibility to register in the queue online will increase the transparency and speed of crossing the border, as well as reduce the risks of corruption, because it will minimize the influence of the human factor on the formation of the queue and eliminate other abuses that may occur in connection with the congestion of checkpoints.

The electronic queue at the checkpoint “Yagodin-Dorogusk” is mandatory. Carriers can register and follow the progress of the queue at echerha.gov.ua, in particular, in their personal offices.

Drivers will be able to plan the day and time of arrival at the checkpoint, because they will know exactly when it will be their turn to cross the border. This will make it possible to optimize the time spent in the queue and reduce the cost of transporting goods.

As of 6:00 p.m. on December 12, more than 1,100 cargo vehicles were in the electronic border crossing queue at the Yagodin-Dorogusk checkpoint. The average number of vehicles crossing the border per day at this checkpoint is 600.

During the testing of the system, which was carried out from October 31, the wishes of the transport market participants were taken into account as much as possible in order to make the border crossing convenient and fast.
